Message from the Director! Prelude to the Pitch

Watching the World Series reminds me of the similarities between baseball and entrepreneurship: warm up; practice your pitch; follow your passion; and maintain super statistics. With “Idea to IPO” just around the corner, we encourage you to prepare your revolutionary ideas and practice your pitches as early as possible. The first class on January 4th will be devoted to idea generation, and we want you to shine. The top 10 ideas will be selected and teams will be formed around the most sensational ideas. After 10 weeks of intensive business training, teams will pitch their ideas to a panel of prominent venture capitalists at the entrepreneurs’ World Series.

While the “Idea to IPO” gets underway with a whole new crop of innovative technologies in 2010, we again request that all past course participants provide information about their current status on the form below. These important data are needed for the 10th anniversary CBE celebration.

Thanks for staying in touch, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Cheers, Gail Schechter

SPECIAL EVENTS:

THE 5th ANNUAL BURRILL: Personalized Medicine Meeting is a two-day event, which encompasses detailed discussions on the whole spectrum of personalized medicine – from prediction to prevention – provides attendees with a detailed “window” into the emerging personalized medicine world and challenges and opportunities that this new paradigm presents.

This conference intends to explore the world of personalized medicine as it stands in 2009 and as it will develop in the next 3- to 5-year timeframe. Although science forms the basis for these exciting developments, this is not a science conference. Instead, our aim is to bring together stakeholders from across the value chain of personalized medicine for a fascinating and instructive set of ‘conversations’ with experts in all these areas…Researchers, Drug Developers, Diagnostics Manufacturers, Clinicians, Payors, Investors, Public Policy Experts, Medical Ethicists, Patients.

This year’s agenda will focus on the impact that broader healthcare reform will have on personalized medicine. The meeting encourages participation, focusing on intimate discussions with small groups of panelists and expert moderators, and encourages participation from the expert audience. In addition, selected top drawer keynote speakers will round out the program.
