Faculty Roadmap for a Start-Up Company. This roadmap was developed by the UC Davis CONNECT for a full-time faculty member who has made an invention and is participating in the formation of a start-up company which in-licenses the invention.
Office of Technology Management All inventions made by UCSF employees must be disclosed to the OTM which is the technology transfer and commercialization arm of the campus. The OTM evaluates each invention with regard to its underlying science and technology, patentability, commercial potential, and licensability. Based on this opporutnity assessment, the OTM then designs and executes an intellectual property, marketing, and licensing plan tailored to each invention that can include licensing the technology directly to end-users, commercial development partners, or to start-up companies. To date, the OTM has helped launch over 35 UCSF start-ups.
